The Real Cost of Staying in Cardiff — Hotels vs. Serviced Apartments

We did the maths for Cardiff too. Here's exactly how much a week costs in a Cardiff hotel vs a serviced apartment — and why the per-person numbers change everything for teams.

Cardiff is expensive. You already know this if you've looked at hotel prices for a Monday-to-Friday work stay.

A standard room at a city centre hotel runs £90-120/night. Add parking at £12-15/day, meals, and laundry — and suddenly you're spending £150-170 per person per day to sleep in a room with a kettle and a packet of biscuits.

We have two properties in Cardiff. One costs £65/night. The other costs £72/night. Both have full kitchens, washing machines, WiFi, and affordable parking nearby. Here's how the maths actually works.

The 5-Night Cardiff Stay: Real Numbers

We priced up a Monday-to-Friday stay for a solo contractor or business traveller. No special deals — just normal prices.

Why Cardiff Hotels Are So Expensive

Three reasons:

1. City centre parking is brutal. Most Cardiff hotels charge £10-15/day for parking. Some don't have parking at all — you're paying for an NCP car park plus a walk in the rain. Our properties have nearby street parking that's typically free evenings and overnight — please check local signage on arrival as restrictions may vary.

2. No kitchen means eating out. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner in Cardiff's restaurants and takeaways costs £30-40/day easily. In our apartments, you cook. A weekly shop at Lidl costs £30-40 for the week.

3. Hotel rooms aren't designed for work stays. A desk, a bed, a kettle. That's it. No space to spread out after a 10-hour shift. No washing machine for work clothes. No living room to decompress.

For Teams: The Numbers Get Dramatic

The real savings come when you're booking for a team. Hotels charge per room. Our apartments charge per property.

3-Person Team — 5 Nights

3 Hotel RoomsWhitchurch Privé
Accommodation£1,425 (3 × £475)£325 (one apartment)
Parking£180 (3 × £60)~£25
Meals£480 (3 × £160)£150
Total£2,085£500

Wait — £500 for three people for five nights? Yes. Whitchurch Privé sleeps 3 in a 1-bed apartment. That's £167 per person for the week vs £695 per person at a hotel.

The team saves £1,585 per week.

Over a 4-week project, that's £6,340 back in the budget.

The Bottom Line
